Lok Sabha Session Ends: Key Legislation Passed Amid Challenges
The Lok Sabha, after commencing on January 28, 2023, was prorogued by President Droupadi Murmu following adjournment sine die. The session included 31 sittings with 93% productivity and saw the passage of significant bills, including the Union Budget, despite the failure of a crucial women's quota bill.

On Monday, President Droupadi Murmu prorogued the Lok Sabha just two days following its adjournment sine die, marking the end of its seventh session since January 28.
The session faced challenges, including the defeat of a significant bill aimed at implementing a 33% quota for women in legislatures through a delimitation process, which intended to increase the Lower House's strength to 816 members.
Despite some opposition uproar, key legislation such as the Union Budget, Finance Bill for 2026-27, and various Appropriation Bills were successfully passed, contributing to the session's 93% productivity rate over approximately 151 hours and 42 minutes across 31 sittings, as noted by Speaker Om Birla.
