A total of 71 block presidents were appointed on Friday by state Congress Chief Vinay Kumar. The appointments are aimed at galvanizing the party's grassroots strategy.
The official notification, issued by State Congress General Secretary (Organisation) Vinod Zinta, confirms the appointments, which take effect immediately. These changes follow recent organizational adjustments approved by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge on March 28, which included the formation of key committees.
This restructuring strives to include significant leaders from diverse sections within the party, ensuring a balance of caste and regional representation. The changes come as the state gears up for the panchayat and urban local elections by the end of May and the state assembly elections set for late 2027.
