The Rajya Sabha has reconstituted its panel of vice-chairpersons, following the nomination of six members from major political parties, effective April 15. The panel includes representatives from BJP, Congress, AIADMK, and BJD, tasked with presiding over the House during the absence of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman.
Among the notable inclusions are Dinesh Sharma, S Phangnon Konyak, and Ghanshyam Tiwari from BJP, Phulo Devi Netam from Congress, M. Thambidurai from AIADMK, and Sasmit Patra from BJD. These members are responsible for ensuring the smooth conduct of proceedings and maintaining order during their tenure.
While the Deputy Chairman has a permanent constitutional role, these vice-chairpersons serve on a rotational basis, stepping in as required to regulate debates and uphold the decorum of the House during sessions.
