Actor-politician and MNM founder Kamal Haasan has expressed his support for the 33 percent reservation for women but cautioned against its use as an election tactic or potential negative impact on Southern states.
A special three-day Parliament session, scheduled from April 16 to 18, will address the women's reservation bill and the Constitution amendment bill. Haasan, speaking at a DMK-led women's rally, emphasized that while he supports the quota, its implementation requires meticulous parliamentary scrutiny rather than being expedited for election purposes.
Haasan, a Rajya Sabha member, highlighted concerns regarding the timing of the initiative, warning against its potential use as an electoral enticement. He underscored the necessity for extensive discussion, particularly about possible implications for Southern states, to ensure fair and balanced legislation.
