Rahul Gandhi has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging a conspiracy to undermine the OBC population through amendments to the women's reservation law. According to Gandhi, Modi's strategy involves using outdated census data, thus depriving the OBCs of their rightful representation.
The Congress leader claims that Modi's plan could result in diminished representation for smaller states, further arguing that current moves constitute an anti-national activity. Gandhi's remarks were made in a video released ahead of the tabling of the Constitutional Amendment Bill, which aims to implement women's reservation.
Gandhi insists that any changes to legislation should be based on the upcoming 2026 census rather than outdated 2011 data, and claims the opposition fully supports proper implementation of the reservation act. He further warns that Modi's proposed delimitation exercise is a politically motivated power grab that aims to benefit the ruling party in the 2029 elections.
