Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal has sharply criticized the BJP-led Mahayuti government, accusing it of transforming Maharashtra into a 'sinking state'. At a press conference, Sapkal alleged that the government has failed to control the drug menace and maintain law and order, demanding a full-time, capable home minister.
He pointed out that drug issues are escalating beyond major cities like Mumbai and Pune, spreading across smaller towns. Sapkal claimed that political patronage is fueling this illegal trade, warning that the state is edging towards a crisis as the youth face heightened risks of addiction.
Highlighting recent drug-related incidents, including the deaths of two MBA students, Sapkal alleged police failure under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ leadership. Criticizing incidents of sexual exploitation, he demanded transparency in investigations, especially in high-profile cases involving public representatives.
