Pope Leo's Peace Mission: A Historic African Tour
Pope Leo embarks on a significant African tour, starting with Cameroon, aiming to mediate peace in the conflict-ridden English-speaking regions. Amidst criticisms from U.S. President Trump over his anti-war stance, Leo will address Cameroon's leadership and conclude with a large mass in Douala.
Pope Leo has embarked on a pivotal journey through Africa, commencing his tour in Cameroon, where he aims to advocate for peace amid ongoing conflicts in the nation’s English-speaking territories.
The 70-year-old pontiff, relatively new in his role yet increasingly vocal on international issues, continues to face criticism from U.S. President Donald Trump due to his outspoken opposition to the Iran war. Despite this, Leo remains steadfast in his stance, undeterred by political criticism.
As part of his itinerary, Leo will meet with Cameroonian leaders, celebrating mass in Bamenda and Douala, where attendance is expected to reach 600,000. His 11-city tour also includes stops in Algeria, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea.
