Barjinder Singh Makhan Brar, a prominent rebel Akali leader, announced his resignation from the Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) on Saturday. Using a Facebook post, Brar accused the faction's leadership of misleading the Sikh community by allegedly collaborating with central agencies.
Formed by dissident leaders opposed to Sukhbir Singh Badal's leadership, the SAD (Punar Surjit) now faces allegations of undermining the Sikh cause. Brar claimed that key figures, such as MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali and party president Giani Harpreet Singh, were complicit in this supposed scheme.
In response, Ayali refuted the accusations, emphasizing their commitment to the welfare of the Panth and Punjab. Despite the allegations, Ayali asserted the party's dedication to the interests of the Sikh community, as directed by the Akal Takht.
