Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay has embarked on a determined campaign journey to Puducherry, as the political climate intensifies ahead of the upcoming elections. His focus is to unseat the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) government, part of the NDA alliance.
The Puducherry Legislative Assembly election is slated for April 9, with results expected on May 4. As political tensions mount, historical voting patterns show high engagement, as seen in 2021 when AINRC led with 10 seats, and in 2016 when Congress secured 15 seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized opposition parties for lacking developmental plans for Puducherry, suggesting they prioritize political dominance. In a recent social media message, PM Modi accused rivals of wanting to use Puducherry as an ATM for Delhi's High Command, rather than considering local aspirations.
