TVK leader Vijay on Saturday labeled the DMK-Congress coalition as a 'confused alliance' and criticized the AINRC-BJP alliance as 'exhausted,' in Puducherry. Addressing a rally ahead of the April 9 elections, Vijay chided the national parties for not granting statehood to Puducherry despite their central power.
Vijay appealed to voters to endorse the TVK's 'whistle' symbol, invoking a 'one-finger revolution,' a phrase echoing a line from one of his films. He pledged that if elected, a TVK government would strive diligently to achieve complete statehood, free from the Lieutenant Governor's interference.
Highlighting his party's welfare commitments, Vijay promised populist measures, including Rs 25 lakh medical insurance per family and 200 units of free electricity for low-income households. On education, he declared plans to establish the Puducherry University of Applied Sciences and Arts, seeking voters' trust for a secure and transparent governance.
