Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda expressed concerns on Thursday, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of irregular practices during the Haryana Rajya Sabha elections. Hooda pointed out issues such as cross-voting and claimed that the Presiding Officer acted with partisanship, resulting in the invalidation of Congress votes.
Despite tensions, BJP and Congress each secured a seat. Congress leaders alleged efforts from BJP to purchase votes, while BJP candidate Sanjay Bhatia said Congress was deflecting blame for their internal voting issues. Bhatia highlighted the focus on local issues as he celebrated the victory.
The elections stirred debates, with Congress's Geeta Bhukkal celebrating their victory as a triumph for democracy. The party accused BJP of unethical conduct, labeling their actions as indicative of an 'anti-Dalit' stance. Congress warned of strict repercussions for members who allegedly facilitated cross-voting.
