In a spirited start to his assembly poll campaign, senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh conducted a motorcycle rally in the Kharagpur Sadar constituency, part of West Bengal's Paschim Medinipur district.
Ghosh, who had overseen the BJP's notable rise in assembly seats from 3 to 77 in the 2021 elections, expressed optimism of claiming more than 1 lakh votes this election cycle. He had previously won the Kharagpur Sadar seat in 2016 with over 61,000 votes against a seasoned Congress contender.
The BJP veteran, whose leadership has seen significant party success in the region, projected confidence in an election where local BJP supporters have historically ensured their victory. Dilip Ghosh hopes to reclaim the seat from the TMC, which secured it in a 2019 by-election.
