Political Clash Over Sabarimala: Venugopal Challenges Vijayan's Stance

Ahead of the upcoming April 9 Assembly polls, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal has intensified his attack on the Kerala government, targeting Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the contentious Sabarimala women entry issue.

Venugopal accused the Left regime of maintaining an 'evasive stand' in the Supreme Court over allowing women of menstruating age into the hill shrine. Despite the recent Kerala Pulayar Mahasabha conference in Kochi, where state general secretary Punnala Sreekumar reiterated support for women's entry, both the chief minister and Minister K Rajan avoided clarifying their stance.

The Congress leader criticized the governmental approach, suggesting the state has failed to take a definitive stand, choosing instead to let the Supreme Court resolve the matter. He reiterated the Congress party's position against women's entry into the temple, urging the chief minister to provide a clear 'yes or no' response to this religiously sensitive issue.
