TVK chief Vijay has urged the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to transfer future inquiries related to the Karur stampede case to Chennai or other locations in Tamil Nadu. His appeal is prompted by pressing commitments linked to the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

Despite having appeared for questioning twice in New Delhi earlier this year, Vijay cited significant personal and electoral engagements as reasons for his request. The actor-politician highlighted these factors in a letter, dated March 14, to the CBI, also informing Supreme Court-appointed Justice Ajay Rastogi, who oversees the investigation.

The Karur stampede, a tragic event, resulted in 41 fatalities. Vijay, who regards himself and his party members as victims, has endured significant mental distress as a result of the incident. Despite his appeal, he underwent a taxing seven-hour interrogation session on March 15 in New Delhi, supporting his claims of prioritizing electoral responsibilities while staying compliant with legal obligations.
