Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, aged 90, was discharged from Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai after a successful treatment for a brain haemorrhage, sources confirmed on Tuesday. Khan, renowned as one half of the illustrious Salim-Javed duo, was hospitalised on February 17 and placed under ventilator support as a precaution.
The screenwriter is celebrated for co-scripting Bollywood classics such as 'Sholay', 'Deewar', and 'Don' along with Javed Akhtar. His family, including son Salman Khan and daughters Alvira and Arpita, as well as Akhtar, visited him frequently during his hospital stay.
Salim Khan's early career in Mumbai began with ambitions of stardom but found his forte in screenwriting after meeting Akhtar. Together, they crafted over two dozen films, many becoming blockbusters, establishing their legacy in Indian cinema.
