CPI MP Criticizes PM Modi's Southern Tours Amid LPG Controversy

In a pointed critique, Communist Party of India (CPI) MP P Sandosh Kumar accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of making superficial visits to Kerala and Tamil Nadu, suggesting that the trips are marked by "long speeches and empty promises." Kumar made these comments while speaking to ANI outside Parliament on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Modi's agenda in Kerala includes inaugurating projects valued at approximately Rs 10,800 crore in Ernakulum, and in Tamil Nadu, projects worth about Rs 5,650 crore in Tiruchirappalli. Amid these visits, concerns about an LPG shortage prompted Kumar to file a suspension of business notice in the Rajya Sabha, urging a discussion.

Citing the hardships faced by citizens due to LPG supply issues, Kumar criticized Minister Hardeep Puri’s involvement, also referencing Western geopolitical tensions affecting global energy supplies. Conversely, JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha assured the public of the situation being under control, noting that the Union government has enacted measures like the Essential Commodities Act to ensure adequate domestic LPG allocation.
