PM Modi Paves Path for Energy Self-Reliance with Major Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the vital role of the petroleum sector in fostering India's self-reliance during a series of project inaugurations on Wednesday, collectively valued at Rs 10,800 crore. Among these, the new polypropylene unit at Bharat Petroleum's Kochi Refinery marks a significant investment of over Rs 5,500 crore.

Speaking at the Ernakulum event, Modi emphasized the connection between an expanded petroleum sector and the 'Make in India' initiative, highlighting that the Kochi Refinery's polypropylene unit will annually produce four lakh tons of the material. He stressed that India's burgeoning achievements in artificial intelligence and the semiconductor industry necessitate increased utilization of green and clean energy.

In addition to inaugurating the 50 MW Floating Solar Project in Kollam district, Modi pointed out India's leading position in solar power globally, aiming for Kerala to advance in this field. As part of a larger effort to strengthen infrastructure, Modi also commemorated the electrification of the Shoranur-Nilambur Road Railway Line, enhancing connectivity and efficiency between Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
