Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar encountered significant protests during his visit to Kolkata, as demonstrators wielded 'go back' slogans and black flags at him outside prominent locations like the Dakshineswar Kali Temple and the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.

Undeterred by the opposition, Kumar continued with his planned itinerary, visiting Belur Math in Howrah, where he reaffirmed the Election Commission's dedication to conducting violence-free elections in West Bengal. He stressed that the EC is committed to ensuring a safe and festive environment for voters to cast their ballots.

During his visit, Kumar also met with political leaders and officials to review election preparedness, underlining the EC's efforts to uphold a fair and intimidation-free electoral process across the state ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
