The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is on the brink of a landmark victory in Nepal's parliamentary elections, closing in on a two-thirds majority with an impressive 124 seats.
With nearly 40 lakh votes under the proportionate-voting system, the party is poised to lead significant governmental changes. As of 7 am Monday, the RSP had secured a commanding number of seats, leaving its main competitors, the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, trailing behind with 17 and 8 seats, respectively.
This election marks a historic moment for Nepal with Balendra Shah, set to become the first Madhesi prime minister and the youngest elected executive leader in the Himalayan nation's history.
