Naveen Patnaik, leader of the BJD, launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government in Odisha, claiming it had shown 'total failure of leadership' concerning women's safety. Speaking on International Women's Day, he highlighted the BJD's historic role in empowering women under its governance.
Patnaik accused the current administration of neglect as crimes against women reportedly rise. He vowed that the BJD would continue its fight for women's security, dignity, and empowerment, invoking the legacy of former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik, whom he described as a pioneer in women's empowerment.
Responding to these allegations, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida countered by stating that the present government under Mohan Charan Majhi is dedicated to protecting women. She accused the BJD of failing during its long rule and challenged Patnaik to show instances where the current government has faltered in acting promptly against crimes.
