On Saturday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made an impromptu stop at a tea estate in Peerumade, engaging with women tea pluckers during his journey to board a helicopter. Alongside Congress MPs K C Venugopal and Dean Kuriakose, Gandhi spoke about their wages and work processes.

The women explained the intricacies of tea plucking, even demonstrating the use of the tea-plucking machine, providing Gandhi with an insightful glimpse into their daily labors. After the engaging interaction, Gandhi captured memories with the workers, taking photographs before departing.

Prior to this visit, Gandhi spent Friday night at a resort in Peerumade, following a student interaction at Marian College. His itinerary included a morning departure for various engagements in Thiruvananthapuram.
