Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed condolences on Friday following the death of Shillong MP Ricky A J Syngkon, emphasizing the late parliamentarian's lasting commitment to public service and the people of Meghalaya.

Syngkon, aged 54, reportedly collapsed during a futsal game near Shillong. Despite efforts by medical professionals at a private hospital, he was declared dead at approximately 8:45 pm on Thursday.

Responding to his passing, Meghalaya's legislative proceedings were halted as a tribute to Syngkon's service. Widely acknowledged for his grassroots outreach and public engagements, Syngkon's contributions to the Khasi-Jaintia Hills and the greater Shillong area are celebrated.
