Ending weeks of political speculation, the DMDK has officially allied with the DMK-led coalition ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. The pact was formalized at Anna Arivalayam in the presence of Chief Minister and DMK president M K Stalin and DMDK General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth.

Premalatha, along with senior party functionaries like treasurer L K Sudheesh, met with Stalin to seal the deal. In a social media statement, Stalin expressed joy over DMDK joining the secular progressive alliance, highlighting Premalatha's leadership and the party's dedication to the 'Dravidian model' of governance.

At the DMDK office, Premalatha Vijayakanth announced the formation of a seat-sharing committee, stating alliance goals are driven by blessings from both DMK founder Kalaignar and DMDK leader Captain Vijayakanth. She emphasized the alliance's commitment to Tamil Nadu's growth and prosperity.
