Police Detain Congress Leaders Amid Statehood Rally in Jammu

In a dramatic turn of events, scores of Congress activists, including Syed Naseer Hussain and Tariq Hameed Karra, were detained by police in Jammu on Saturday. The action came as activists attempted to proceed in a march to Lok Bhawan.
The march, part of the 'Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq' movement, aimed to advocate for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and draw attention to the importance of the MGNREGA program. The activists originally gathered at Maharaja Hari Singh park before making their way towards Lok Bhawan.
Congress’ chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma, condemned the police intervention, describing the march as peaceful. Despite the peaceful intentions, police halted the procession by detaining key figures like Hussain, Karra, and others at Jewel Chowk.
