Karnataka Minister M B Patil clarified on Thursday that the recent assembly of Lingayat Congress legislators was focused on community welfare rather than a demonstration of political strength. Organized by Aland MLA B R Patil and endorsed by Ramdurg MLA Ashok Pattan, the meeting centered on ensuring the wellbeing of the Lingayat community.
M B Patil emphasized that discussions did not involve topics that could spark confusion, such as ministerial appointments or leadership roles. Instead, the gathering aimed at addressing community welfare, a practice common among various legislative groups.
Patil highlighted the significant political contributions of the Lingayats, referencing the community's pivotal role in the Congress's 1989 electoral success and their representation in the 2023 Assembly election. He assured that seeking representation in government is legitimate, but not at the expense of other communities.
