Hundreds of BJP backers gathered at Imphal airport to welcome Khemchand, poised to be the next Chief Minister of the restive state, currently under President's Rule. Accompanied by fellow BJP MLAs and central party leaders, Khemchand returned from a key meeting in New Delhi concerning the state's new government formation.
BJP MLA Thongam Biswajit announced that five ministers would take the oath, expressing optimism for the peace that the new administration aims to bring. Amidst the anticipation, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh appealed for support, underscoring unity and dedication to the state's progress. The governance shift follows N Biren Singh's resignation amid criticism of his administration's response to ethnic conflicts between Meiteis and Kukis.
