In a surprising turn of events, political adversaries BJP, AIMIM, and Congress have come together in Maharashtra's Achalpur Municipal Council, ensuring the unopposed election of committee heads. These developments unravel just days after BJP's coalition with AIMIM in Akot and Congress in Ambernath local bodies.
The recent local body elections in Achalpur saw Congress winning 15 seats out of 41, BJP capturing 9, AIMIM with 3, Independents securing 10, while Prahar Janshakti Party and NCP won 2 seats each. The alliance resulted in an AIMIM councillor being elected chair of the education and sports committee, a Congress member heading the water supply committee, and a BJP councillor leading the women and child welfare committee.
Achalpur BJP MLA Pravin Tayade expressed dissatisfaction, highlighting a lack of consultation in finalizing the alliance. Despite this, he pledged allegiance to party senior decisions, aligning with his Hindutva ideology, a core belief of the BJP.
