Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday voiced his strong opinion that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) should be banned, attributing many of India's law and order issues to the BJP-RSS alliance. This statement has sparked further debate on the influence of the RSS in political circles.
Kharge did not hold back in his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of insulting Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's legacy by allowing government employees to associate with the RSS. Patel had banned the RSS following Mahatma Gandhi's assassination due to their controversial role at the time.
On the anniversary of Patel's birth, Kharge charged that the ruling party is manipulating history by removing significant references from school textbooks, hinting at a broader agenda to reshape public perception. The Congress leader emphasized the necessity of preserving historical truth and protecting India's democratic fabric.
