In a pointed critique, Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh accused Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Hindutva ideologue V D Savarkar of initiating India's partition in 1947. Singh asserts that the ruling BJP is perpetuating divisions within cities and neighborhoods today.
Singh made these remarks responding to reports of alleged Hindu exodus from Muslim-majority areas in Sagar, a city in the state. He emphasized that the BJP is sowing divisions akin to those of the past.
Highlighting concerns over voter list revisions, Singh claimed that booth-level officers were unjustly removing names, acting under the influence of a 'double-engine government.' He called for attention to historical events, noting the significance of October 31 not only for 'Run for Unity' but also as the day of Indira Gandhi's assassination.
