Cyprus and India: Bridging a Multipolar World

In a rapidly evolving multipolar world, Cyprus sees India as both a historic ally and a future collaborator, according to Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos. Speaking in New Delhi, Kombos praised India's potential and role as a significant global player, particularly in the context of strengthening EU-India ties.

The Foreign Minister highlighted the significance of the EU-India Free Trade Agreement, contending its successful conclusion would unlock vast economic opportunities for Cyprus and Europe at large. He also spotlighted the strategic role of Cyprus in the proposed India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, a plan that aims to enhance trade and connectivity across regions.

Amid global instability, Kombos urged for collective action against issues such as radicalism, terrorism, and economic crises. He reiterated Cyprus' commitment to supporting the EU-India partnership, especially as Cyprus prepares to assume the EU Council presidency in 2026. His dialogue with Indian officials reflects a commitment to deepening relations and addressing common challenges.
