The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a sharp critique against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday over his remarks concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chhath Puja at a Bihar poll rally. They accused Gandhi of harboring contempt for Hindu dharma and Bihar's cultural traditions.
Sudhanshu Trivedi, BJP national spokesperson, condemned Gandhi's words as disrespectful, asserting that citizens of Bihar would reject his statements in the upcoming assembly elections. He described Gandhi's comments as an affront to Chhath Mahaparva, a significant cultural and religious festival in the region.
Further demanding a public apology, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan labeled Gandhi's remarks a major public insult, suggesting they were born out of political frustration. BJP leaders insist that the people of Bihar favor development and governance over divisive and dynastic politics.
