Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his recent remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of insulting Chhath devotees and indulging in cheap publicity tactics.
Gupta, who is in Bihar campaigning for the BJP ahead of the assembly elections, called Gandhi's comments a symbol of political immaturity. She expressed disappointment in his ridicule of Chhath festivities and his alleged detachment from Indian cultural traditions.
Highlighting the improvements her government has made for Chhath celebrations, Gupta defended Prime Minister Modi and accused Gandhi of deflecting from genuine issues with personal attacks. Her comments came after extensive preparations were made for Chhath Puja, with new facilities at the Delhi Yamuna ghats.
