Czech Politics Take Shift as Babis Forms Coalition

In a significant political move, Czech election winner Andrej Babis declared on Wednesday that his ANO party is set to forge a coalition agreement with the eurosceptic Motorists party and the far-right, anti-EU, anti-NATO SPD party.

The agreement is scheduled for signature on November 3, coinciding with the first gathering of the new Chamber of Deputies. This coalition aims to pivot national policy towards increased fiscal spending while reducing aid for Ukraine and support for EU migration and climate initiatives.

Endorsed by President Petr Pavel for government negotiations, Babis plans to form a ruling government by mid-December. The alliance, which could command 108 of the 200 parliamentary seats, continues discussing ministerial appointments following the finalization of their joint political agenda.
