Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra on Tuesday made serious allegations against the ruling BJP government, claiming it misled the Election Commission to intentionally delay upcoming panchayat and municipal elections.
Dotasra criticized the government for falsely informing the Election Commission that no local body elections were pending, enabling the continuation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 12 states and Union Territories, including Rajasthan.
Dotasra accused the SIR process of being used as a pretext to manipulate voter lists by removing Congress supporters, particularly those from minority, scheduled caste, and backward communities, thereby jeopardizing democratic rights.
