In a scathing critique, JDU MP Sanjay Jha accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of politicizing the electoral process through his Voter Adhikar Yatra, alleging it was merely a political maneuver, not a sincere effort. Jha questioned Gandhi's commitment, highlighting his absence from Bihar, claiming the leader has vanished for the past two months.
The 16-day awareness campaign, led by Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi, aimed to spotlight voter rights and protest electoral roll irregularities. However, Jha insists the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is no longer relevant in Bihar's political discourse, accusing rivals of using SIR to mask deceptive polling practices.
As the Election Commission initiates the second phase of the SIR across 12 states and UTs, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced the final voter list will be published by February 2026. Separate electoral revisions will apply to Assam, addressing unique citizenship verification needs supervised by the Supreme Court.
