Actor-politician Vijay recently engaged in an emotional meeting with the families of those who perished in the Karur stampede, which claimed 41 lives and injured over 60 others. The meeting took place at a resort in Mahabalipuram, attended by 37 families brought in from Karur, a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) source disclosed.
In a poignant, closed-door session, Vijay met each family individually, offering not just words of condolence but also assurances of monetary support, including help for education, self-employment, and housing. The leader's heartfelt apology came as he explained his absence from Karur due to administrative constraints and promised a future visit.
Despite the overwhelming grief, Vijay's commitment to the victims' families was evident, as he vowed to care for them like his own. The day's gatherings saw family members returning to Karur, as the TVK leader prepared to restart his political outreach activities, paused following the tragic incident.
