As the bypoll to the Tarn Taran assembly seat approaches, a total of 15 candidates are left in the race following the withdrawal of five individuals, according to officials. This election, scheduled for November 11, highlights intense political rivalry and strategic alliances.
Among the remaining contenders are prominent figures such as Sukhwinder Kaur from the Shiromani Akali Dal, Harjit Singh Sandhu representing the BJP, Harmeet Singh Sandhu for AAP, and Karanbir Singh from Congress. Adding to the dynamics is Mandeep Singh Khalsa, running as an Independent with the backing of several Sikh bodies, including factions led by jailed MP Amritpal Singh.
The necessity for this bypoll arose from the unfortunate passing of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal in June. The election will be conducted on November 11 from 7 am to 6 pm, with results announced on November 14, marking a significant political event in the region.
