France's Socialists Threaten Government Over Tax Policy

France's Socialist Party has issued a stern warning to Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu's government, indicating they will file a no-confidence bill if their demands for tax increases on the ultra-wealthy are not met by Monday. Socialist party leader Olivier Faure emphasized the lack of compromise seen thus far.

Given the composition of France's parliament, where the Socialists hold significant influence, the party could successfully challenge Lecornu's weak minority government if they align with both the far left and the far right, who have also expressed their desire for change in leadership.

Previously, Lecornu garnered Socialist support by pledging to abandon a controversial pension reform. However, with budget negotiations underway in the National Assembly, the Socialists believe they can further leverage their position to secure more favorable fiscal policies.
