In a move that has ignited a political firestorm in Telangana, senior IAS officer Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi's voluntary retirement has become a focal point of controversy. The BRS has accused the state government of 'harassing' bureaucrats to engage in corruption.
Rizvi, a respected 1999 batch officer, opted for VRS on October 31, a decision accepted by the government. However, the underlying reasons for his retirement remain undisclosed, prompting Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar to voice concerns over Telangana's bureaucratic integrity.
The political narrative escalated as allegations surfaced that ministers manipulate tender processes and blame resistant officers. BRS Working President KT Rama Rao further alleged that officers face undue pressure to commit wrongful acts, a claim denied by the government, which has yet to provide a response.
