The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) has intervened in the controversial case of Shaik Riyaz's death, directing the state DGP to provide a detailed report by November 3 of the events leading to the alleged police shooting.

Riyaz, who was killed by police on October 20 after purportedly attempting to take a weapon from an officer, had his family appear before TGHRC on Monday, asserting the incident was a 'fake encounter'. The family demands an unbiased probe into Riyaz's alleged illegal detention and custodial death.

Furthermore, Riyaz's relatives claim ongoing police harassment, including physical torture, and a fraudulent monetary dispute preceding the incident. They have sought legal action against those involved, with the Commission advancing the hearing to October 27 and stressing no further harassment of the family.
