In Telangana, the voluntary retirement of Senior IAS officer Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi has ignited a contentious political debate.
Accusations are flying with the BRS accusing the state government of pressuring bureaucrats into corruption. Rizvi, a 1999 batch officer with a decade of service to go, unexpectedly opted for retirement at the end of October, with officials yet to disclose his reasons.
Reacting strongly, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar labeled the situation as a revelation of Telangana's bureaucrats being squeezed between corrupt practices and political blame games. Kumar condemned what he perceives as a trend of targeting honest officers, drawing parallels to tactics used during BRS's tenure with political meddling in Kaleshwaram and Formula E projects.
