Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has strongly criticized Union Minister Giriraj Singh for his recent derogatory remarks aimed at Muslims. Abdullah urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take disciplinary action against Singh over his comments, which were delivered during a BJP rally.
Addressing the media, Abdullah pointed out that such statements are often used by BJP leaders to stir religious tensions, especially during elections, to cover up their own weaknesses at the grassroots level. He highlighted recent incidents where BJP leaders protested against Muslim women practicing their faith publicly, questioning the sincerity of BJP's claim to represent all Indians.
In a parallel political development, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, led by Abdullah, convened a meeting with independent MLAs to strategize for the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls. Abdullah expressed optimism about securing Congress support and criticized the BJP's record, noting an absence of progress from the government. The Rajya Sabha elections are scheduled for October 24, marking an important political event in the territory.
