Authorities in Ladakh have lifted the restrictions enforced under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, ending the prohibitions on public gatherings, officials announced on Tuesday.
The move comes after district officials in Leh and Kargil ordered the lifting of the restrictions, which were originally imposed to prevent disturbances and maintain peace following violent incidents in Leh last month.
After dialogues resumed between the Leh Apex Body and the Kargil Democratic Alliance with the Centre, and a judicial inquiry was announced, officials stated there was no longer an imminent threat to public order.
