The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across Mumbai city and surrounding suburbs, aligning with directives from the Election Commission of India.

In an effort to ensure transparency and accuracy, BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide urged political parties and elected officials to aid the process. During a meeting with political delegates, she outlined the program's objectives, which focus on eradicating duplicate, deceased, and illegal entries while updating records for migration-related changes.

This revision, Mumbai's latest since 2002, is part of a larger state-wide initiative. The BMC plans to execute the process in six phases including pre-revision strategies and extensive enumerations. As the mapping phase progresses, Bhide encouraged parties to appoint Booth Level Agents to uphold efficiency and transparency throughout the procedure.
