In a significant diplomatic development, the French government has waived the transit visa requirement for Indian nationals passing through France exclusively by air. This policy, set to take effect on April 10, 2026, underscores the commitment of both nations to enhance bilateral relations.
The announcement was made by Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal during his weekly media briefing. Jaiswal emphasized that the decision reflects the strong bond and strategic partnership established between India and France during President Emmanuel Macron's recent visit to India.
In related maritime updates, ten Indian ships have safely passed through the Strait of Hormuz, while fourteen remain in the Persian Gulf. The Ministry of External Affairs is actively engaging with Iranian authorities to ensure the safe passage of remaining vessels.
