In a legal clash with Chandigarh Police, academician Madhu Kishwar has been charged with multiple offenses, including defamation and promoting enmity. Kishwar, in a bid to mount a credible defense, has appealed to the Chandigarh DGP to provide a copy of the FIR against her.
Kishwar alleges that despite Supreme Court mandates requiring police to provide FIR copies to the accused and upload them online within 24 hours post-filing, she has received neither. This procedural gap is obstructing her ability to gather necessary evidence and cooperate with the investigation.
The police have charged Kishwar and others based on complaints regarding the circulation of forged and misleading content on social media, allegedly aiming to harm reputations and incite public discord. These developments signal a complicated legal battle unfolding in the realm of social media conduct.
