Local BJP Leader Accused of Molestation and Threats

In a troubling case emerging from the Ballia district, a local BJP leader faces serious allegations involving a 17-year-old girl. Raj Kamal Verma, 35, has been apprehended on charges of molestation, as well as issuing threats to the girl's family, the police confirmed on Tuesday.

According to a filed complaint by the girl's father, Verma has been accused of luring the teenager with promises of marriage since late October 2024, and subsequently molesting her. The victim's younger sister, 14, has also accused Verma of harassment over a period of six months.

Authorities, including Deputy Superintendent Jaishankar Mishra and Additional Superintendent Dinesh Kumar Shukla, have confirmed the ongoing interrogation of Verma. Meanwhile, statements from the victims have surfaced on social media, amplifying the case's public profile.
