Tragedy Strikes as Deputy Superintendent Dies in Accidental Firing

Yogesh Kumar Sharma, a 55-year-old deputy superintendent of police, tragically died from an accidental shooting while cleaning his revolver at home. The incident occurred at the Police Quarters near GN College, Phagwara. Despite rushed medical attention, Sharma was declared dead at the hospital. He was recently transferred to Chandigarh.

A tragic accident has claimed the life of Police Deputy Superintendent Yogesh Kumar Sharma, who died from an accidental discharge of his service revolver.

The incident transpired at his official residence in Police Quarters, near GN College along Phagwara bypass Gaunspur service road. Sharma was cleaning his weapon when a shot accidentally fired, critically injuring him. Despite immediate medical intervention, he was pronounced dead at the Civil Hospital Phagwara.

Sharma, previously stationed with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, had been recently transferred to Chandigarh. According to Phagwara Superintendent of Police Madhvi Sharma, the accidental discharge struck Sharma in the chest.
