In a shocking incident, a 33-year-old taxi driver named Deepak Kumar allegedly strangled his wife, Sonam Bai, to death before hanging himself in their rented house in Ambedkar Nagar, Sector 9. The police identified the couple, originally from Alwar, Rajasthan, and noted the presence of their six-year-old son during the tragedy.
The couple, who married for love eight years ago, reportedly had frequent altercations due to Deepak's alcoholism, a factor that investigators believe might have contributed significantly to the tragic event. About a month ago, Deepak started living separately, leading Sonam to summon her sister, Amrita, for support.
Amrita discovered the horrifying scene upon returning home, with Sonam's body in the kitchen and Deepak hanging in another room. The absence of a suicide note has left the police piecing together the circumstances, while an FIR for murder has been filed against the deceased taxi driver.
