Meghalaya Gears Up for Statewide Civil Defence Mock Drill 'ARMEX-I 2026'

The Centre has mandated the Meghalaya government to implement a statewide civil defence exercise titled 'ARMEX-I 2026' on April 24 to boost preparedness for potential air raids. A two-minute blackout will be part of the exercise aimed at enhancing state readiness.
Conducted under the Ministry of Home Affairs' directives, the simulation will take place across all districts. Participants will include the Air Force, Army, state police, and emergency services along with community institutions and traditional village bodies.
The drill comprises two stages: the first from 3 pm to 4 pm, featuring rescue operations; the second from 6:59 pm to 7:02 pm, simulating a blackout. This initiative underscores the government's focus on strengthening national security through repeated civil preparedness exercises.
